SB29

Effective July 1 st 2005, Senate Bill 29 eliminates the current lifetime ban on Food Stamps and TANF (temporary assistance to needy families) benefits for individuals convicted on a drug felony.   Under previous Montana law, people who are eligible for food stamps or TANF cannot receive those benefits if they have had a previous drug-related felony since August 22, 1996.
 

Legislative Town Meetings

October 11-12 and 18-21, 2004

The purpose of the Legislative Town meetings was to provide an opportunity for local service providers to educate their local legislators about the issues affecting their clients as well as their agencies.   This year's Town Meetings were conducted in 8 communities and local service providers in the areas of housing, childcare and food spoke of the challenges specific to their communities.
